Easter

Me personally, I'm not religious and never have been (hope you don't take that personally), and until I can't think what age I always got given easter eggs etc (I think that's more because I was a kid and kids like chocolate etc and especially when they're younger they don't really understand what it's all about other than the chocolate, but certainly the last few years I haven't had any (told people I don't want them). I'd imagine very few adults buy Easter eggs for themselves or other adults, it's more for the kids I think. To me, the Easter story is relatively interesting (more so when I was younger). Do I believe any of it? Well as I said I'm not religious and never have been, so I can't say yes or no. Easter to me really means little more than loads of football and rugby league in a really short space of time (again, don't take that personally, that's just what I think of when I think of Easter). So erm............yeah.

Again this is nothing personal but i am with you stevvy, i was never brought up by religion, i have never been baptised i can honestly say i am a stict non-believer, as for the easter eggs i guess i am with stevvy it is a child thing with the chocolate and stuff, it would appear that easter is like a mini christmas very much a commercial thing these days. As a final thought i wouldnt say there is anything wrong with religion it as given many people a lot of comfort so that is not a bad thing, it is just not for me thats all !!

Thank you both for contributing your thoughts. I would be interested to hear what others have to say. I'm quite sure you are both in the majority - guess that's the way life is these days. As I said, nothing anybody can say will make me change my opinion, I just like to know how other people feel about it. I really am doing my bit to try to stimulate some conversation on this site!!!!! :-)

Oh don't worry Bib I'm not trying to change your opinion. You have your opinion and I fully respect it. I took more interest in Easter generally when I was younger (being taught about it etc), and obviously as a kid there was the chocolate part of it. I think it's also of less interest to me now because really none of my family celebrate it now (ie no Easter eggs, don't think we send cards out etc). I guess if I have kids I may take more interest in it for their sakes (not just the chocolate part of it), but until then it'll likely be of limited interest to me.

easter always meant easter eggs and long drawn out bible films on tv ....idont believe and its as simple as that if there was a god why is he letting people starve ,ect ect ,but thats not this thread . having kids ov my own they 2 expect easter eggs ,alas there in their 20s now so getting bugger all.
