Migration and Britains Poverty

I hear what you say Chewy but really what are children in poverty? Aren't we all expecting too much from our Government sometimes? Virtually every child in this country has a roof over their head of sorts. Look how many children around the world don't have that. Alot of these so called children in poverty have parents who drink and smoke and I bet nearly all of them have a television in their house, flat or whatever. Also they are all entitled to free education and free medical treatment.

The benefit system in this country is all up the wall when immigrants who have not contributed one penny to the system are allowed to claim thousands of pounds a year while pensioners, many of whom have worked all their lives and paid National Contributions are living on the bread line. You may be right about some children living in poverty, but like Bib says, I bet their parents all wear designer trainers etc and have mobile phones etc.

I agree to a point with your comments, but what about those of us and the old people who work(ed) for the immigrates to get our benefits, houses etc - all out of tax payers money.

I don't ask for much and appreciate I have a roof over my head and basic food on the table - and no treats. I work crap hours for basic pay and it still isn't enough to pay the basic household bills. Tried for the last 22 days to get hold of tax credits - always busy - so I will end up probably in debt because of a governmental system that can't cope.

Oh and our gas and elec gone up and we already turn everything off and use basic things - what next - no telly until the weekends - but only for an hour - no heating on until we freeze!!!

Fed up with this country and the bureaucraps - what happened to life ??? Work - struggle - and die - woo hoo

It's so very hard for all of us at the moment I know. My daughter is coming out of University with at least £30,000 debt - we can't afford to help fund it and she probably won't get a job as a primary school teacher. The world is going crazy but it's something that we are all having to live through and cope with. My husband is a self-employed Carpenter and Joiner who has some work at the moment but we always look ahead and goodness knows what the new year willl bring with the VAT rise. Our saving grace here is that we built our house so don't have a mortgage so no matter what happens we can live here with no phone, no water, no electricity - nobody can take our home away!!! We know so many people in the building trade who haven't had work for months so we really count ourselves lucky. A holiday would be wonderful - since getting married almost 25 years ago we had a honeymoon in Corsica and we have had 2 holidays in Cornwall and that'[s our lot. I dream about so much but always think we are much better off than so many.
