Children as young as five are being targeted in a new online safety campaign by the UK body charged with protecting children from abuse.

The campaign uses cartoons to show five to seven-year-olds that people are not always what they seem.

It is thought 80% of children in this age group use the web and one-in-five parents of this age group worry about who their children contact online.

Sorry but what responsible parent would let their child surf the internet without them being present. William is 7 and he's only allowed on 4 websites ... CBBC's, Club Penguin, Moshi Monsters, and Chatanplay, and I am always close to him making sure he stays on those sites and the protection for him through those sites are brilliant, and I'm protecting him like a parent should.

To me a responsible parent should not have anything to worry about if they are with their child while they are on the internet, a irresponsible parent who hasn't brought their child up very well, of course, would let a 5 year old sit and surf on their own and leave them open for abuse.

Ridiculous - makes me wonder what sort of parents there are out there, you wouldn't take your 5 year old to a large superstore and tell them to meet you back in an hour - would you ??? they'd be left available for kidnapped and God knows what else- so why leave them on a PC with access to over millions of paedo's and porn sites.

Am I strange or something??? Common sense tells me, that if you type in Google Britney - for Britney Spears you are 9 times out of 10 going to get a semi naked woman or a porn site come up.

Internet security and programs like "Mother says No" where you control what sites they can visit etc

To be honest the video is a good idea for parents who can't be bothered about their children and doesn't accept responsibility for them.

Sooo now I've had my moan :D what do you think???
