Do you believe in God?

Yes and no...

I believe there is a "God" but not in the man made religions - at the end of the day "Religion" is man's interpretation of a book, whether it be the Koran or Bible.

I grew up, with Christian Grandparents and went to church from a very early age, I saw people helping each other, kindness and love. I was Christened as a child (about 6 years old).

Growing up I attended churches as I felt the need, I have always had a bible and do read it now and again. At the most traumatic times in my life I have turned to the churches.

I was Baptised at 25 and became a member of a Baptist Church. I attended a "Home Group" where we discussed the bible, and every day living and problems. I got great comfort and support from my Christian friends. Especially, when my marriage was failing and due to private circumstances, the church and my Christian friends stepped in and bought my family food, gas, electric for three months (as the state wouldn't) and fixed my washing machine.

After being divorced and meeting another man who wasn't a Christian I was asked to resign my church membership, as I was living in "Sin" and they couldn't condone it and I wasn't prepared to kick my new partner out.

Hypocritical - as my partner was very interested in becoming a Christian. The church didn't want to help me bring another "child to god" they wanted me to find and marry a Christian.

Isn't that what God wants - "his children to return to him". Well I resigned and went to another Baptist Church - their opinions were different.

So how can two Baptist Churches in the same locality have such different rules - hypocrites.

I've attended many other churches and "Man's" view on "Religion" is too influenced - taking what they want and ignoring other stuff from the Bible.

I have my faith - which is personal to me. I am not a perfect Christian and don't ever pretend to be. I have sinned. But I do try to live by the ten commandments and believe that the lessons that can be learnt from the bible can help you to lead a good and happy life.

But I don't need "Man" telling me I can do this and I can't do that, at the end of the day - Jesus died on the Cross for my sins - I'm human and will make mistakes.

Religion is man made.

Christianity, Catholicism, etc is a private faith and doesn't need to be rubbed and judged into peoples faces.

I don't believe in god, but I do however believe or hope there is something else after we pass away, but then there are doubt's because if there was something there after we pass away, why hasn't anyone that we have known or loved come to tell us after they passed away that there is something after we have gone, to relieve our fears off dying, or perhaps it's just me that is scared off dying.
Is it just our mind's playing trick's on us when people say that they have seen the light? Maybe it's just the brain shutting down. And what about thing's some people have seen ie spirits/ghosts....who knows..

Although I like the song by the Monkeys telling I'm a believer, I must admit I am not. I do believe however that our life has a written path or destiny. So you can say I believe in fate.

I don't judge people on their believes so if they feel comfortable believing in a God in any way then I say let them as long as they do not force people to join and respect others.

Churches however to me are just nice buildings at times and the whole structure of it does not really fit in the way I think about life. Too many people have suffered when it comes to beautiful churches and also people were killed because they did not believe, or thought differently than the interpretation of the bible, Koran or any other religion.

Also most wars are based on religion and that is also a reason for me not to believe in the ways of the church because if you look at any religious book they use, it all comes to show that they shall not kill so how can they start a war in the name of God, Allah or whatever name they gave their God(s)?

the way ifeel at the mo i would rather not comment on whether the big man is real or not cos sometimes i think he is and other times i think not i just don't know what 2 believe anymore ??

I believe in something bigger than us. Religion is a way of life, its about faith in a higher being no matter what religion you follow. I just dont believe in the church as an entity, its just not necessary to those who truly believe.

I believe that everyone as a right to there own beliefs and i dont criticise people for believing in wotever or whoever they choose i also know that a lot of people get great comfort from relgion. This next statement is personal to myself, i do not believe in god or any other "surpreme being" and i think when you r gone thats it this is purely down to my own personal life experiences.

i was christened as a baby myself and have always liked the idea of going to church but never seem to beable to have the time to go, both my sons and my eldest daughter have been christened as well and eventually when i can get round to it my youngest daughter will be as well, now she's old enough i have left it up to her and she has said she want to be. i am not 100% sure if i believe in god or not but i was always brought up to pray at night before i went to bed i have never forced this on my own children and never will i believe that it is down to their them if they believe or not, my mum is a believer herself as she had a few personal experiences about ghosts after her parents past away as well as my dad's dad visiting her in their bedroom and sitting at the bottom of her bed. i have had similar experiences in the last 2 years with my daughter's father doing the same thing so as seanio as said its down to your own personal experiences and how you deal with them

I dont believe in god and i get called an Atheist

I dont call people names because they believe in their religion. I dont disbelieve i n god i just find it hard to believe Religion is the biggest killer in the world.

When you think about all the wars going on a round the world this very moment, Whats it all to do with, Religion and faith. I believe there is life after death and we are living in hell at this moment in time.

I died when i was very young and had an out of body experience and my mom and dad had a similar experience too At the end of the day i respect people who believe in their faiths and i dont mock that, but this is the way i feel and think about god and religion. I have sat up all night asking question to my friends who are Sikhs Muslims Christians etc and you know what they cant answer my questions.

Just go round in circles I rest my case (:o)
