Post HMRC - Data about families

Not sure what you think, but on watching the news regarding the information on thousands and thousands of personal data gone missing.

I must admit I thought I've heard nothing - pheww my details are safe - but yesterday I received a letter !!!

    Nooooo !!!!

The letter reads I am writing to make a personal apology. (pfft - not even a fake signature at the end)

The data which has gone missing is my and my children's names, dates of birth, addresses, national insurance number, bank details.

The letter then goes on to say check your bank statements and any letters or phone calls you receive - take details, numbers and any relevant information and report it to the relevant authority.

Okay should be we worried - yes - with that data - which is out there somewhere - someone can steal our identity.

We luckily changed our bank details and the account they did have is no longer in use, but it is still worrying.

    What do you think?

Think it is worrying. They're trying to bring in all this identity stuff, like ID cards and chips in our passports to prevent immigrants and identity theft...yet they can't keep the system they've already got secure and protect people from identity theft in the most basic of ways!
Its time we had some people with brains and common sense, and a sense of what community and family is in government, instead of these muppets who just want the money and power!

According to all the news and BBC Websites and WatchDog program it is actually only 25 million Child Benefit claimants whose data is missing. Not general benefit claimants.

On Watch Dog there were other individual cases of mess ups with the HMRC sending out personal details to wrong people - but nothing on this scale of the Child Benefit claimants.

Certainly makes you wonder what incompetent people we have running the country and running our lives!

Police have visited London rubbish tips in their hunt for missing computer discs containing personal details of 25 million people.

The two Child Benefit discs containing names, dates of birth, bank and address details went missing on 18 October.

LOL can it get any worse lol
