I've been thinking for a long time about getting a slow cooker as it sounds such a great idea to be able to put it on in the morning and it'll be ready when we get home in the evening and the fact that you only use one pot to cook your meal :) A couple of things have made me hesitate...how much electric it uses ( which I've now been reliable informed is not much) and how safe it is as it will be on all day.
Does anyone else use one? How easy are they to use? What sort of thing do you cook in yours?
Thanks :)

We use one all the time, ours is about 20 years old an still going strong, we cook stews, casseroles, roast beef and lots of other things, ours is shaped like a large square frying pan with a ceramic dish that fits inside for slow cooking and we use the non stick pan part for frying steak, chicken, fry ups and even stir fries although i am sure that our model is no longer available i have only seen slow cooking pots, shop around till you find what is suitable for your needs, simplicity at its best....... and you will get a recipie book with it?.
Thanks I'll let you know how I get on ...... a friend has just offered to lend me one to try before I buy :)
I wouldn't be without mine, I use it at least 3 times a week. It is extremely economical to use. Also, I always make sufficient for 4 people so that I can freeze half and just heat that up on another day when I am pushed for time. Good luck. I think you will find it invaluable. Also it makes very cheap cuts of meat very tender.
brilliant i use 1 alot esp in winter for stews and casseroles .meat ect ect , very good at tenderising meat . bang it in at 9 am or when you go to work and by 5 its coked perfect lol
Cheeky aren't I
Well, today, whilst we were all at the airfield for my Uncle to do his Sky dive, my auntie was cooking a Stew in her slow cooker, we got back to theirs and it was all ready and made for them to eat, which they were glad they didnt have to cook as they were both very tired. YUM!
Think I should invest in one of them :)
Mind you, you're knackerd if the power goes off throughout the day ;)
