The weather

The weather is all I've heard about on the radio and tv today. How is the snow where you are? Here in North Dorset we had a couple of inches this morning. A thaw came at lunch time and we had some sun and blue sky. Took the dog for a walk just now and it started again. As I type this I've just looked out of the window and it's snowing really hard at the moment. Hope it keeps up!!! I only work on Tuesdays and Thursdays so it would be nice to have an extra day home tomorrow!!!!

We haven't once this winter seen a gritting lorry through the village. Bless the council's hearts. Needless to say, the road wasn't gritted so the poor binmen couldn't visit us to collect the rubbish today. They are in huge heavy lorries which could quite easily cope with the roads. Sadly for us, who don't work for the council, we have to go to work to pay our pensions so we might have something for our retirement. My husband had an horrendous journey into work this morning. He's self-employed so really can't afford to stay at home.

I'd love to know what it's like in your part of the world and if everything has stopped operating - busses, trains, etc.

Hiya bib, Not tooo bad here. Lots of snow this morning around 2am, thats when it really started.
When we woke it was still at it but cos the cars had been driving up n down it dint seem like much.
Dylan is off school due to it being closed. Damian has gone to work, but I spose he has to.
My sister has just been, she lives like 10mins away and its not snowing in padiham so she got scared when she was watching the snow here and settling. She got in her car and went hahahaha.
New puppy loves the snow. shes been out a few times to bark at it and eat it. Other than this bib everything seems ok here.
In saying that its been snowing non stop now for the last hr so lets see how we go.

hiya well its been snowing all day non stop it snow little bit last night then when i got up this morning everything was white an the road was very quiet which is very unusal as a bus goes by every ten mins here then i seen cars sliding round the corner lol about ten o clock i seen a lorry with man on the back throwing sand on the road 30 mins later a bus came by an i was told that the bus drivers had refused to come till the road had been gritted but yes we got loads snow here an the kids are loving it

hmmm second time time ryans seen snow , its come really heavy this afternoon think the buses are still running though .............kids are loving it too here :) chesterfield derbyshire im at bib !

hi all here in belfast as yet no snow but is bleedin freezing cold meant 2 b gettin snow 2morrow blahhhhhhhhhhhhh lol ok i love the snow but when u have 2 walk 2 work it aint good lmao ;o)p

loads of snow here in leeds all the schools closed ,neighbours cleared the paths yesterday but withing 10 mins they were just as bad ,bin men are due today ,hahah dont think theyll be getting in our street as its really bad lol .but apart from seeing kids snowball fighting ,sleding and snowman building ,no casualtys to report ,but the kids are loving it.

well 140 schools are closed today so lots of playing in the snow , i hate the next step when it freezes cos i live at top of road and u can gurantee ill fall on me bum when walking ryan to school !!! its not funnyyyy :P

I haven't gone to work today - yeah!!!! We had a lot more snow in the night. Everything is really pretty. It took my husband ages to clear our drive so that he could slide his van to work. The only vehicles on the road seem to be tractors and 4 x 4s. The whole village is out walking about and chatting, kids are having great fun on sledges, bin bags, trays, anything they can get their hands on. The sky is still very grey so we could be in for some more - it keeps threatening. We have lived here for 22 years and this is the first time we have seen so much snow here. It's fab!!!! I'm dreading it thawing because they say it will freeze very hard tonight - that means the road will be more treacherous than ever tomorrow. I think the main roads are ok but I have to travel almost 2 miles to get to one and my husband wasn't going to risk me taking the car out. Enjoy it while you can folks.
