This year's new year's resolution - once a week cook something completely different for our evening meal. I have a cupboard full of recipe books but every day we eat the same old things so I'm aiming to be more adventurous. Hope I can stick to it although it's easier than it sounds cos my husband is so fussy!!! He's improved over our 20 odd years of marriage though. When I put something different in front of him he looks at it tentatively, then looks at me and says "OK I'll give it a go - just don't tell me what's in it until I've eaten it!"
Good on you with the nicotine lozenges seanio - just don't start eating sweets or biscuits as a substitute! If you do, next year's resolution will be to lose weight. He he!!
You deserve to be congratulated for going without ciggies though - well done.
new year resoltions mmm never stuck to one yet but im really trying to cos i gotta give up smoking for health reasons been trying the patches an the gum but not heard about the lozenges till now even they sound addictive but gotta be better than the ciggy . thanks seanio im gonna try them
Here's another resolution I made a couple of years ago and we have stuck to it. It does help to cut down the cost of the weekly shopping bill.
I keep a pad and pen on the kitchen worktop. When I run out of anything I write it on the list. If any of the family think we are running short of something they add it to the list.
Every Thursday night I work out the menus for the following week, check the cupboards, fridge and freezer to see what I'm short of and add these things to the list.
That way, when I go shopping on Friday I DO NOT get sidetracked, I just buy what we need.
It took a bit of getting used to but once we all got into the routine I found I saved money on my shopping bill. If you're finding things a bit tight in the credit squeeze why not give it a go?
