I haven't read any of his books or seen his plays, but he is always spoken of as the writer that defined the "beat" generation (whatever that might be). I get the impression that his writing is very deep & heavy and maybe a little out of date nowadays.

Actually, indifference, although not a crime, is one of the biggest problems with society today in my opinion. If we all took a bit more interest in what's going on in the world and did our little bit to try and change the things that are wrong, life would be a lot more happy and bearable.
