Finally cracked a habit of a lifetime??

It seemed to take a broken collar bone to help crack it but I have finally started to grow my nails.
I have been biting them for as long as I can remember and I'm now 27. I think the habit is hereditory as both parents bit there's terribly (didn't they Magic). My mum stopped biting somehow about 5 years ago now and I have had several half hearted attempts but never been successful.
I have always longed for beautiful fingernails, which I can polish, french manicure, visit the salon and have manicures on but have never been able to break the habit.
This is going to sound a bit vain but I have always thought that my short bitten fingernails were the only thing about my appearance that were letting me down.
I'd use New Years resolutions as a promise to stop but never found the motivation or always found an excuse to start biting - I'm stressed, nervous, I'll do it next week, I'll start on Monday...
I've lost count of the times I have tried!
Anyway, as some of you might know, I recently fell off that motorbike in my avatar and broke my right collar bone. As stupid as it sounds it helped me grow my nails just a little bit so I could see how perfect they could be.
How? I couldn't reach my mouth with my right hand without excruciating pain from my shoulder, so I started to realise when I was trying to bite my nails. Once this was cracked I then trained my thoughts to stop picking at them with my other hand.
You see, I used to subconsciously bite and pick! I still bit my nails on my left hand for a few days afterwards, but 2 weeks on I can really see the growth on my right hand and my left hand is catching up. I can't wait until I can visit the salon for my first ever professional manicure!!!
Here's to long, beautiful nails forever; and a lifetime habit cracked! I feel good!
