When dad was on his way home we knew we would be in trouble for all the bad stuff we did for mum .
Mum always said wait until your dad gets home , and the only time we would be botherd is the day he was due home we would be as good as gold that day for mum , hoping she wouldn’t tell dad everything we had been upto.
She did though maybe not as soon as he came through the door but she told him .
The 60.s went in came the 70’s dad still worked away a lot and we saw the arrival of a baby sister, nana .
More staying with nana after sis was born dad still working away ,found it hard ,3 kids to look after . and she fell poorly ,and had to go into hospital, dad had to come home grandma and granddad looked after sis whilst mum was in hospital.
Nana only took us once to see mum, that was enough tubes sticking out of her ,and I don’t know what else, but we never saw her like that again .to this day I still don’t know what was wrong with her ,I only know she had 1 of her lungs halved and stitched up.
Mum eventually got better dad was home quite a lot looking after mum, good old nana and granddad still looked after me and my brother ,nana was dads mum…when he did come over to see us he used to give nana money for looking after us ,and give us pocket money ,he would ask nana & granddad ifwe had been good boys lolol nana was a gem
She always said we were little angels .
Dad gave us pocket money….old days remember before decimal money. .
Big Pennys .lol and shiny little ones we used to stand them on nanas sideboard and see who had the most ,nana and granddad used to say the were gonna spend it lol.
It was a competition ,who could make there pocket money last the longest.
I don’t think either of us made it last all week
