Our bed times hadn’t improved we were still packed off to bed in daylight hours
So we didn’t sleep dad was forever shouting from the bottom of the stairs that if we didn’t go to sleep he would be up to give us a hiding ,we would be quite for a few mins then start up , mum would eventually come up and warn us to go to sleep otherwise dad would bray us .
Thing was we would be up at the crack of dawn ,and funnily enough we wouldn’t make a sound on a morning. .1 day we managed toget the bedroom windows open and thought it was clever to hang out the window dareing each other to hang the furthest ,we took it in turns , but 1 day my brother was hanging out the window and I picked his legs up thinking I could hold onto him…I couldn’t and down he went head first .lucky for me there was our old pram on top of the dustbin and he landed in that, i cant remember how I got him back into the house b4 mum n dad new , but I did ,wasn’t quick enough though a neighbour had seen the whole thing and rung the police saying that she seen 1 thrown out the window , police were banging on the door with the neighbour in tow , but he was ok not a scratch on him , ,that’s something else I never get to live down.needless to say I got a good hiding and locks went on the windows….nailed down lol.
