As an apprentice I was given the job of creosoting the lengths of timber

But that was good for me meant I wouldn’t have to face dad and get a hiding
Nana was disappointed in me, granddad wasn’t on this planet he was in that much pain and drugged up he couldn’t even feed himself.

I was put into a children’s home other side of Leeds. , mixed, girls and boys around 12 boys and 12 girls…had 40 fags with me but they were took off me and I was told that smokers were allowed 5 a day

Well locked up in that cell with 2 other guys I didn’t know was daunting .went to sleep fully dressed that 1st night ,as I had heard stories about what happened to young boys in jail;
Was a case of stand up to the bullies or you would become week and they would prey on you, you all seen the movies, it really is like that in some prisons.

The authorities were asking me loads of questions, where I was from, which schools I attended, as I was in prison under an alias I dint have ...

That weekend in brighton wasn’t what we had expected .got kicked out of the police cells Monday morning ,with nothing but the clothes on our backs ,headed for the motorways and the bright lights of London again


Night time when we got there ended up being dropped off in fleet street.
Newspaper buildings all over the joint, we were tired wet hungry . we were walking along fleet street and next thing I new a car was coming towards me .door flung open .come on get in shouted ...

The job didn’t last long 2 reasons for that
1 was when they wanted refrences I couldn’t supply them could i.
2 it was so easy to make money there , drivers were always wanting to buy this or that
was easy to sell things , everything came in boxes, soon selling away ,but cos I dint have no refs I was told I could work the week out.
Rest of the week I sold more stuff to drivers, anybody I could persuade


So no job , had a week to find a job ...
