people and marriage good or bad

firstly let me say congratulations on all those who have been married , divorced , remarried , still with the same person, it takes alot of commitment from both partys to make it work.
i was with my partner for 7 years happy ect ect, and once we got married everything changed, we stopped doing things together, had different friends.
different prioritys, we would hardly see each other, i worked nights she worked days , we used to say hello me getting into bed her getting out, it was comical looking back lol. point i was making we was divorced within 3 years ,so marriage for some is fantastic for others not so .imo

People change anyway hun ... whether they are married or not

The trouble is people either grow apart or grow together, they also stop trying.

My longest relationship was 9 years and we never left the so called honeymoon period - 7, 8, 9 years on was still making candle lit dinners, running baths with candles around it, token pressies etc. Held my hand, kissed in public, we even pretended we had just met lol. It kept the flame and passion alive.

Only trouble was he was tied to his mothers apron strings :D

People give up too easily and stop trying ... they'd rather have the excitement of a new relationship than work at the one they are in - all circumstances are different.

i argree crewy people do give up to easy,
some times marage fail as people jts give up, and dont try anymore

as i was the one who started this post lol i suppose i better had another comment has i have only just got round to reading all the posts lol

i agree with everyone that has posted it does take alot for people to make a relationship work and to keep the flame going i was with my ex husband for just over 2 years before we got married i was only 15 when 1st met and just over 17 when i got married with my parents consent i though i was doing the right thing as i had my eldest child in the may n got married in the august, the worse thing that really destroyed our marriage was the constant interference from he's mother and the pressure of having a new born child to look after as he worked nights so he used to come home and want to go to bed regardless of whether i hadn't long got up. within 6 months we started to hit rock bottom he had lost he's job for various reasons 1 being drunk whilst in charge at work and things really got bad at that point, he hit the bottle harder n harder and expected me to do everything and if it wasn't done i would end up getting hit and was scared of him as i was black n blue at one point. it eventually got to the point i had really ahd enough of being treated like a human punch bag and getting told that the food and everything else in the house was he's and only he's.

he swung for me for the last time and didn't like it because i decided to hit back and this time he was the one who got hurt and wasn't impressed because i got the police involved he was arrested and the day of the court hearing i was in hospital due to the fact i was 6 months pregnant with our 2nd child because i couldn't appear in court the hearing was dismissed and he was released without charges which i really can't believe to this day but still that's life for you and yes it does go on regardless lol.

i have had a few other failed relationships since but i have learn't from my mistakes this time round, i have been with my present partner since 2006 and he is a very loving caring person that hasn't done nowt wrong to me and has always been there through everything that myself and my children have been through.

so now i do believe that somethings are ment to be after all and maybe this is the best choice i've made after all :)

I might sound a bit cynical now (as I always seem to do!!!). I have been quite happily married for 22 years now. However I have to say I don't think this word "love" is the be all and end all of everything. I did have one great love in my life but for various reasons I turned him down because I just knew that it wouldn't work. If I was to pass him on the pavement tomorrow I can't say what would happen but I certainly know how I would feel. My husband and I are good friends and we have alot of respect and trust for each other. In some ways you could say we lead our own lives - he has his interests and I have mine. Personally I think that's a good thing. I know some couples who live in each other's pockets - what is going to happen to the one who is inevitably going to be left on their own one day? You can either be in or out of love but a true friend you can trust and respect is surely worth so much more than that. "Love" is great when it's happening but you need something far more than that to make a relationship work.
